THOSE BEST DAYS. An (un)SUCCESSFULL project!!!!😓

Today is the day that has to be marked as special day. There are two reasons for that---

1. 3 years back, that is after the completion of my second semester, I was surprisingly bored by the pattern that we follow for traditional reading. I was bored by the academics, I was like "oh god, please get d hell out of here!!".... That's when I decided to start blogging. Those innovative thoughts of me will never lasts longer, N guess what?? I'm writing my personal blog again!! Right after 2 years to be exact!!

Now you might be thinking?? How does this day relate to the title???!
2. The title refers to the second main reason which is a major part of my entire engineering life.
Exactly one year back, as usual I was sitting/lying +gaming +thinking +browsing (that’s what I do all the time😂), I was in a bad mood, aggressive enough to take bad/wrong decisions. That's when I decided to make my own project for the final sem.
                         Happy birthday to my thoughts😂😂😂
Caution: play the stunts at your own risk!

This may sound odd to so many of you, because most of my friends are from 1,2,3tier colleges where the above statements are very common. But for a nth tier college, making our own project is an illusion or a day dream! It’s like growing wheat in Thar desert! Such an odd decision! 😯😯😯

A semester rolled off, we were at the doors of 8th semester, to our greatest luck we got what we wanted (The guide).. Now one might ask me who r all in the "we" there?! Answer is I ME AND MYSLF!!😂😂 lol I NEVER started any discussions with my mates that time. We went straight to the dept., the other three knew nothing about my thoughts... I started showing papers to the guide without even informing my group mates! 😬😬😬.. Heck man!! I'm an idiot who doesn't know to communicate!! And the topic was selected from a heap of topics!

Now, briefly this is what I planned initially. An Unmanned land vehicle with all possible sensors such as flame, temp and humidity, IR (for edge), Soil moisture, Ultrasonic (for obstacle), PIR (for motion), Gas(for leakage detection), GPS and GSM!!! A video surveillance automated robot with NRF24L01+ modules for wireless communication! Sounds great is it!! The greatness is not about thinking, greatness turned to guilt when the product didn't work out!!

As usual, I'm good at home working, I had full scale test codes and I developed the whole project code just in a week of span and decided to gather each component one by one. Started with sensors. We used a video camera, I dropped Flame sensor since flames can be observed through video frames. Now the dropping starts!! Readers are requested to count the dropped feature! 😂😂 That is why I quoted as bad decisions initially. Now, most of the sensors and actuators were tested. 3 months gone!! Only two months left and a lot more work than the completed part!

Now I started thinking of a power supply solution for the robot. Gsm and GPS needs 12v1A supply. So we needed 12V2A for their functionality + extra batteries for motor and microcontrollers!! Lol the robot will never move if these heavy batteries are used. So GSM GPS dropped😂😂😂. By that time 1st phase presentation was scheduled (yes its 1st phase after 3 months, that's GECR's specialty). Now things turned out towards us, our seminars got overlapped and we never did that again!

Now, I was about to test NRF24 rf modules which are quite easy to handle and the success rate of this device was 60% in Arduino forum!! But I was unlucky, got two Chinese boards, worked really hard, spent more than 2 weeks on the same stuff, read blogs, watched tutorials, nothing helped me!! and finally with the help of my friend, Tapaswi (the best partner I had in my life) I burnt NRFs😂😂😂...

Now guess what, the date was 13/05/17 and our final presentation was on 24/05/17!!! In just 9 days a working model was to be prepared with presentation and has to be presented!
That's when we, group mates started talking about project!! NRF was a flop show. So for wireless communication, I decided to take ZigBee which is an easiest module to use. The speed was 256kbps more than enough to transmit all sensor values from robot to base station and control signals back to robot... Wow!! It works for 1km range in open space. ZigBee u beauty I'm coming to get you! - thoughts rolled off!!!

Now, me varun n Chethan went to sp road (the paradise gateway) to buy pair of xbee. We got it working within 2 days. Now the real problem was Arduino can receive only one character per second and we cannot transmit temperature and humidity to control unit and finally dropped that too😂😂 ... During the 1st phase meeting with the guide I gave every possible build up about my project to the guide in person and now have removed most of the impressive features!! I was a bit afraid! But the luck knocked us, he got married and he was not available for our finals presentation which made us to feel relaxed! 😂😂

The final day arrived, Thanks to Mr. Krishna for helping us to assemble every component. At last we decided to use our own cell phones as camera and power banks as supply.
The working model was made on 23/05/17. We skipped our final presentation too like a boss!!😎😎
In the context "we" refers to the 4 most loved people in my education life!
Illegal, unauthorized group member Krishna😂😂
On 24, we showed our working model to a professor (temporary guide). He was happy to see our model and appreciated us for our work. We felt happy that day. In real fact, the model wasn't working for manual mode: The ZigBee was not in synchronous with the transmitter and there was a lot of delay! Thank GOD he didn't noticed it! The presentation that was supposed to be happened inside the class with professors and classmates, happened inside the professor chamber unknowingly!

The best part was we prepared our own report! The words- starting from page 1 to last, we used our own BAD English😂.
Got the guide's approval for report just before a day of final exam. Took printouts, took signature of the guide. We have to thank Mr. Umesha HS our beloved guide who responded for us even on Sundays. Thanks for the internal marks too😊😊 ...

Even with all the modifications, our model was quite impressive!!
Finally, we presented the project. Everyone who saw the model were appreciating us, but I was less satisfied with the work! Even though it was a successful project for the viewers, somewhere I personally feel that I failed to execute the plan!
Here it ends, THE (un)SUCCESSFULL PROJECT.

Thanks for spending time to read my thoughts!
Apology-  Sorry, I tried to be very natural, if it looks too over or imagined- change your thoughts!😎😎
